Ginette Has Her Calluses Removed in Haiti in December 2003

December 2003 - Ginette has calluses removed from her feet with help from her friends. First they soak the foot to make the callus soft, then they scrape it. Feet in Haiti develop hard, thick calluses since many people (like Ginette) usually walk without shoes.

After the callus is soft from soaking, the callus is then scraped thin but not too thin because calluses are needed on the foot, just not too much or else it causes pain.
